Individual Therapy

That voice in your head urging you to talk to someone… pay attention to it!

300728765“Once upon a time, I thought I knew what I wanted my life to be…”

Dear Diary,

I used to think I had my shit together and could handle life. Now, I’m not so sure.

There are days – most days, if I’m being honest – where it feels like space and time are drifting by.

I see friends, coworkers, and strangers thriving in life – at least they seem to be on Instagram and TikTok. But for me, it’s Monday morning… then Tuesday evening… then the weekend has come and gone.

What I wouldn’t give for that morning alarm to be a wake-up call instead of an assault on every cell in my body. It’s like an invasion, signaling that it’s time to do the ‘adulting’ thing.

Frankly, it’s too much for me. I always feel heavy… and left behind. It’s like I’m lost in all the nooks and crannies of life. I know I have deadlines ahead of me, but all I can do is stare blankly at this screen.

My parents and friends tell me to ‘just relax’ and ‘it’ll all work out.’ I know they mean well, but it sounds a lot to me like, ‘You’re better than this.’ What is ‘this”’anyway?? Having enough money just to ‘make it’ in the world? Ugh… I’m so miserable.

Who has time to relax? Even when I do, I feel guilty about it – like there are a million other things I should be doing with my time.

I can’t win!

2149334385Okay… let’s take a deep breath.

Seriously, let’s do it.

Inhale deep…

Hold for eight seconds…

Release it for eight seconds…

Now… a little better, huh?

Yes, “adulting” is part of life, but…

It doesn’t have to be this hard or complicated. And if it is, you’re not alone. Lots of people feel like they’re always overwhelmed and falling behind as the stressors pile on higher and higher.

What’s important to remember is you shouldn’t have to do it alone. You DON’T have to do it alone.

Humans are wired for connection, belonging, and acceptance. That’s what you’ll get in therapy.

Imposter syndrome, betrayal, perfectionism, phobias, trauma…

I’m here to help you find your center so you can handle life with resilience and confidence!

Let go of who you think you are supposed to be; embrace who you are.

1369310480Can you recall the first time you heard the term “therapy?”

For Baby Boomers and Gen-Xers, personal issues were often swept under the rug or endured with a “push through” mentality.

In contrast, Millennials and Gen-Zers, with the aid of social media, have made discussing mental health and holistic well-being more mainstream.

Going to therapy is not a sign of weakness!

Individual therapy is for anyone…

… who needs to talk to someone other than a friend or family member. When you talk to me, you’re talking to a licensed professional trained in active listening.

It’s a transformative journey where we’ll navigate your feelings, thoughts, and actions. In the process, you’ll develop self-awareness and a greater understanding of yourself.

You’ll also learn new coping mechanisms, build resilience, and improve your relationships.

Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship challenges, or life changes, this is a safe, confidential space to share your concerns.

Make the most out of your journey!

Know your goals…

Identify what you want to address and achieve during therapy.

Reflect on your history…

Consider your personal history, any past mental health treatments, medications, and significant life events.

Prepare questions…

Jot down any inquiries you have about your therapist’s methods, expectations, or the therapy process.

Be open and honest…

Go at your pace and comfort, but opening up and sharing from the heart is the best way to make progress.

Manage expectations…

Understand that developing a therapeutic relationship takes time. The initial session is typically about acquainting with each other and laying the foundation for future sessions.

Stay open to the process…

Therapy is a journey. Remain receptive to where it may lead, even if it diverges from your initial expectations.

Talk therapy is just one of our approaches.

We’ll do traditional Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but we’ll also incorporate somatic approaches to put you in touch with your body, mindfulness techniques to make you feel grounded, and movement-based therapies or Sandtray to facilitate self-expression.

If you’re struggling to overcome the negative effects of past trauma, we’ll use targeted modalities like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

And for neurodivergent individuals striving to fit in and feel “good enough” – not wanting to feel odd or burdensome – we have a therapeutic space for you. When you’re here, there’s no need to feel like you should change or conform. We accept and work with you just as you are!

It’s time to embrace who you are…

Let’s do the work to get to your authentic self!

I offer a free consultation by phone or online to see if we’re a good match. If we feel we’re a fit, I’ll send you everything you’ll need to fill out through your client portal.

It’s so easy to get started… why wait??

I look forward to meeting you and exploring possibilities. Give me a call: (910) 212-6477.
