What Is the Messy Middle of Motherhood?
I don’t know exactly when it started — the unraveling.
Maybe it was the morning I poured orange juice into a coffee mug or felt completely helpless when my toddlers are throwing a tantrum while out in public and cried because it felt like a metaphor.
Maybe it was when I returned to work in a blouse that didn’t quite fit anymore — not because of weight (or maybe it was), but mostly because I didn’t fit anymore.
No one talks about this phase. It’s not postpartum in the traditional sense. It’s not burnout–thought it might be close.
This is the messy middle — a blurry season where you’re still becoming.
Where you’re not a brand-new mom, but you’re still adjusting to everything you’ve lost, shifted, and stretched into.
The Unspoken Grief of Motherhood
You may feel:
- Grateful and resentful
- Joyful and numb
- Surrounded by love, but still lonely
This isn’t a crisis — it’s a normal, messy part of the motherhood identity shift.
But it’s rarely named. And even more rarely supported.
You’re Not Failing. You’re Just In Between.
This season is full of contradictions:
- You want alone time… and then miss them when they’re gone.
- You look in the mirror and barely recognize yourself.
- You fantasize about running away for a weekend…and then feel guilty for even thinking it.
You’re not broken.
You’re not alone.
You’re just in the middle of a transformation no one prepared you for.
What If You Didn’t Have to Carry It All Alone?
You don’t have to hit a breaking point to get support.
You don’t need a diagnosis to deserve a space where you can just be.
Whether you’re navigating:
- Emotional exhaustion
- Motherhood and career pressure
- Relationship strain
- Identity loss
…..there’s room for you here.
